Casey Parks and the folks over at the Oregonian have been piecing together a story revolving around the police shooting of Keaton Otis a few years back here in Portland. Part of the story dropped today and focuses on the conversations women of color (and women with children of color) have with their sons about the way they should interact with police. I spoke of my own personal experience as a Black woman raising a white (looking) son. Check out my story below and visit OregonLive for the full story and personal accounts from several other mothers in the community.
