People You Should Know: Mat Randol

Although he towers over most of us mere mortals (especially you rappers) Mat Randol comes off as the quiet unsuspecting type. Like most engineers, he doesn’t have to be loud and boisterous. His presence is felt thru his music. And he’s made music with many of the best artists in the town. Last year he dropped a mini docu-series, Mat Mixed It that features cameos from quite a few of my personal favorites. But let’s get to know him a little better in his own words….

Who are you?
Mat Randol

What do you do?
I’m an Artist/Audio Engineer and Co Founder of NBG (Neu Beginin Global).

When did you start doing it?
I started toying with the idea of being a “rapper” at age 12.  I started using music as an outlet. I didn’t really tell others how I felt when I was upset or whatever. And I just love the culture of hip hop, a chance to get your story heard by people all over, travel the globe. It took several years to develop to a point where I could record my own music which began at 15 when I downloaded a free trial version of Cool Edit Pro 1.5. And I’ve been at it ever since.

Where can we find it?
MatRandol.com is in the works, so for now you can locate my portfolio at soundcloud.com/MatRandol. Also I’m always engineering for whoever needs songs recorded and I’m working on a solo project….finally.

Why should we like it?
Why you should like it? You don’t have to like it, that’s your choice. I’m not doing this for people to like me, I’m here to tell my story, to help those  like me get through this pain and ultimately thrive on another level. You will ultimately respect what I’ve done at the end of the day.

Thank you Mat for joining us this week. I’ll keep an eye out for that solo project and look forward to getting more music in my inbox from you. Until next week.
